PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for making oxidation resistant homogenized polymeric materials and medical implants that comprise polymeric materials, for example, ultrahigh-molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE).SOLUTION: An antioxidant is doped to a solidified polyethylene such as UHMWPE before, during, or after crosslinking the solidified polyethylene. Subsequently the polyethylene doped with the antioxidant is annealed in a supercritical fluid. |
