This biometric authentication device has: an acquisition unit which sequentially acquires three-dimensional information including biometric information of a living being to be authorized; a detection unit for detecting a predetermined motion pattern of a predetermined section of the living being on the basis of the three-dimensional information that has been acquired by the acquisition unit; an extraction unit which extracts, from a storage unit which stores a plurality of biometric feature data, biometric feature data identified using motion position information of the predetermined motion pattern that has been detected by the detection unit; a generation unit for generating current biometric feature data for the living being to be authorized on the basis of the three-dimensional information that has been acquired by the acquisition unit; and a matching unit which matches the biometric feature data which has been extracted by the extraction unit with the current biometric feature data for the living being to be authorized that has been generated by the generation unit.
