PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a toner amount used in a width allowance outside a side edge of a recording sheet when forming a so-called frameless image.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus forms a toner image transferred on a recording sheet in a larger range than a width of the conveyed recording sheet. A width allowance which is an image forming range made larger than the width of the recording sheet is set to be linearly increased from the tip toward the rear end in the conveyance direction of the recording sheet. In addition, the width allowance is changed depending on grammage of the recording sheet or the width of the recording sheet in the conveyance direction. That means that when the grammage of the recording sheet is large, the width allowance is reduced, and when the width of the recording sheet is small, the width allowance is set large. Thus, the width allowance is changed according to a distance shifted from a reference position of a conveyance position of the recording sheet, and thereby the width allowance is reduced, and a toner usage amount is also reduced. |
