PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery in which side reaction of the positive electrode and the nonaqueous electrolyte is suppressed, and a safety mechanism operates quickly when the pressure in the battery rises.SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a bottomed cylindrical outer can having an aperture, a sealing body having a safety mechanism which operates when the internal pressure of the battery increases, an electrode body having a positive electrode and a negative electrode housed in the outer can, and an insulation plate housed in the outer can and placed on the upper surface of the electrode body. The aperture of the outer can is caulked and sealed by the sealing body, and an organic polymer having a melting point of 70-130°C is placed on the insulation plate. |
