PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain surface quality of an optical glass element and simultaneously to minimize deformation occurring in a drawing process, in production of especially the optical glass element using the drawing process.SOLUTION: In a method and apparatus for producing an optical glass element using a drawing process, the geometric figure of a glass strand produced is controlled by cooling bodies or heating bodies positioned around at least a part of the periphery or the longitudinal axis of the glass strand, in the inside or outside of the heating device.
