PURPOSE: A novel Lactobacillus sp. strain is provided to replace existing antibiotics and prevent or treat symptoms generated by abnormal fermentation of harmful bacteria. CONSTITUTION: A probiotic composition contains Lactobacillus salivarius (KACC91678P) or a culture liquid thereof. The probiotic composition has resistance to acid and bile. The probiotic composition suppresses the growth of Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC), E.coli O157:H7, E.coli O78, E.coli O26, Salmonella enteritidis, Salmonella typhimurium, Salmonella cholerasuis, and Salmonella derby. The probiotic composition has an adhesion ability to enterocytes and does not transfer antibiotic resistant genes. The probiotic composition induces the secretion of TNF-alpha from macrophage when Lactobacillus salivarius is only treated. |
