An apparatus and a method for saving power consumption in an information processing device are provided to save power consumption of an MP3 player by setting a clock value to be adaptively to a load applied to a system. An apparatus for saving power consumption in an information processing device includes a scheduler(100), a plurality of execution modules(110), a maximum clock driving unit(120), a clock table storing unit(130), and a clock calculating unit(200). The scheduler controls execution of a program for performing a predetermined function corresponding to a user input command. The execution modules perform predetermined functions including a music file sampling task(111). The maximum clock driving unit provides a maximum clock frequency. The clock table storing unit stores clock information corresponding to a format, a bit rate, and an operation frequency of a music file. The clock calculating unit calculates an optimal clock frequency for minimizing power consumption while performing a new task and reproduction of a music file at once according to execution of the new task. |
