PURPOSE: An auto cruise control system for preventing a surge in a continuously variable transmission vehicle is provided to automatically release a fixed speed maintaining function when accelerating or decelerating a vehicle speed. CONSTITUTION: An auto cruise control system of a vehicle in which continuously variable transmission is applied includes a speed sensor(20), an engine control unit(30), a continuously variable transmission(40) and a TCU(Transmission Control Unit)(50). The speed sensor detects a driving speed of the vehicle. The engine control unit controls driving of an engine based on a signal applied from the speed sensor. The continuously variable transmission performs automatic transmission corresponding to a torque value of the engine. In case a torque variation checked based on information from the engine control unit exceeds a first set value. The TCU controls the continuously variable transmission to maintain steady speed driving by fixing the torque variation with an average torque value. If the torque variation exceeds a second set value which sets up the number of deviating from a predetermined reference value, the torque variation fixed in a previous process is released, and the TCU controls acceleration or deceleration corresponding to a current torque value.
