The method involves determining two-dimensional environmental parameters of the parking space (30), and determining three-dimensional environmental parameters of the parking space. The environment map is created based on the determined environmental parameters of the parking space. The target position of the vehicle (10) in the parking space is calculated based on the two-dimensional environmental parameters. The target position of the vehicle in the parking space is corrected based on the three-dimensional environmental parameters. An independent claim is included for a driver assistance system for determining a target position of a vehicle in a parking space.
