A signal representing a numerical value from a vehicular application (206) is received by a calculation module (202) over an interface (221). A power value is calculated using a predetermined base using at least some multiplication and shifting operations. The calculating module will also access a look-up table (224) stored in a memory (222). The calculated power value is returned to the vehicular application. At the vehicular application, the calculated power value is utilized in a calculation and a result of the calculation is obtained. A parameter of the vehicular application according is altered to the result. The vehicle application may be a noise removal, echo cancellation or display application. The base may be selected from 2, e or 10. The calculation may obtain a value for 2x.y where x and y are integers. The value 2x may be calculated using a shifting operation with 20.y using the look up table. |
