PURPOSE: An electric power steering system and a control method are provided to supply an assist force supplying stability by determining the will of a driver when the change of a steering angle is detected and by optimizing and controlling the steering system in order to be suitable for the situation. CONSTITUTION: An electric power steering system comprises a first steering angle sensor(101), a second steering angle sensor(102), a control unit(103), and a motor(104). The first steering angle sensor detects change of a steering angle according to the driving of a steering wheel. The second steering angle sensor detects the displacement of the steering angle. The control unit determines an assist force with a firstly inputted signal of a first steering angle sensor and a second steering angle sensor and controls the assist force according to the reconstruction or rotation. The motor generates the assist force according to a control signal approved from the control unit and stabilizes the steering feeling.
