A bookbinding system (100) includes an aligner (350) configured to align text sheets (HP) to be bound into a bound book, and a controller (282) configured to control the aligner. The controller determines whether or not a text sheet to be conveyed to the aligner is a pre-folded sheet (ZP). When the text sheet to be conveyed to the aligner is the pre-folded sheets, the controller determines whether or not the length of the pre-folded sheet in the conveyance direction is shorter than a prescribed length from a spine side to a page opening side of text sheets in the bound book after side edges of the text sheets have been cut off. When the length of the pre-folded sheet in the conveyance direction is shorter than the prescribed length, the controller switches alignment procedures in the aligner. |
