The present invention provides a method and a system for controlling start of a compressed mode. The method comprises the following steps: when User Equipment (UE) performs an inter-frequency measurement or an inter-system measurement, the UE determines that a network side indicates the UE not to start the compressed mode, according to a measurement control message received from the network side (S102); for N downlink auxiliary carriers of the downlink auxiliary carriers other than the downlink auxiliary carriers corresponding to the uplink auxiliary carriers, the UE does not start the compressed mode, wherein N is greater than or equal to 1 (S104). The present invention ensures continuity of calls, increases utilization ratio of system resources and improves system performance. |
