[Class 35] A commutator has a recess or projection on one or both sides of its segments to interlock with a complementary projection or recess either on another segment or on a retaining member, there being three or more segments for each retaining member. As shown in Fig. 3, segments S1, S2 interlock with retaining member Rm1 while S3 interlocks with S1 and S2 but there could be two segments disposed between S1 and S2 while in Fig. 8 all four segments S1-S4 interlock directly with the retaining member. In a modification of Fig. 8, the outer sides of segments S1 and S2 are flat. The segments are assembled in a jig as in the parent Specification. |
