Appratus and method for managing sensor nodes in wireless sensor network

PURPOSE: A device for managing sensor nodes in a wireless sensor network and a method thereof are provided to overcome the limitation of narrow communication coverage and low reliability by performing inter node communication by using a communication unit for long distance communication. CONSTITUTION: A GPS(Global Positioning System) receiving unit(10) receives position data of a header node from a satellite. A communication unit(20) performs communication with a sensor node by using one of heterogeneous communication modules and receives the position data and information sensed by the sensor node. A processing unit(30) selects one of mobile communication modules by considering a network connection state of a wireless sensor network and manages sensor nodes connected with the header node by cluster unit.
