PURPOSE: A manufacturing method of a 3-mercaptopropionic acid is provided to have a simple process by excluding post treatment by forming a dimer such as thiodipropionitrile and to improve the yield of the 3-mercaptopropinic acid. CONSTITUTION: A manufacturing method of a 3-mercaptopropionic acid comprises a step of obtaining a sodium 2-cyanoehanethiolate by the reaction of an acrylonitrile and a sodium hydrogen sulfide with a molar ratio of 1:0.8-1.3; a step of obtaining a 3-mercaptopropionitrile by neutralizing the 2-cyanoehanethiolate with an acid separating layers; a step of adding acid into the 3-mercaptopropionitrile and refluxing the mixture to convert the mixture into a 3-mercaptopropionic acid; and a step of removing water distilling the result in vacuum, and obtaining the 3-mercaptopropinic acid.
