PURPOSE: A broadcasting receiver and a method thereof are provided to improve a channel conversion speed by modulating a channel by using parameter information, modulated parameter information, and program specific information (PSI). CONSTITUTION: A tuner parameter generator (120) generates tuner parameter information including a channel setting value for selecting a channel corresponding to channel information searched by a tuner unit (110). When a channel conversion request is inputted from an input unit (140), a controller (150) selects a requested channel by using the tuner parameter information stored in a storage unit (130).
