The present invention provides a hand judgment method and a judgment device, and an operation device of vehicle-mounted equipment of a motor vehicle, thus a hand of an operator and a steering wheel can be reliably two-valued into white and black to enhance judgment precision of the hand. In the first process, making a luminance column diagram of presumed areas (RC, RL, RR) of the steering wheel (S) when a mark (M1) is covered by the hand (H); in a second process, arranging a threshold value for judging white and black between two peak parts of the luminance column diagram; and in a third process, judging the area with the height larger than the threshold as an area of white. Thus, as the luminance of the hand (H) is larger than that of the steering wheel (S), the steering wheel (S) can be reliably two-valued into black and the hand (H) can be two-valued into a proper threshold of white, the white area can be judged as the hand (H), and judgment precision can be greatly enhanced. |
