<p>PURPOSE: An article transport facility is provided to easily secure an installation space for an article sending and receiving unit. CONSTITUTION: An article transport facility includes an overhead conveying vehicle (1) and an article sending and receiving unit (4). The overhead conveying vehicle is capable of travelling along a travel route by being guided and supported by a travel rail (2) which is installed on a ceiling, and has a support unit (18) which supports and elevates an article. The article sending and receiving unit is installed on the bottom in contiguity with an article handling device (3) which performs a prescribed handling for the article. The travel route of the overhead conveying vehicle is set over the article sending and receiving unit in the length direction of the route which intersects the arrangement direction in which the article handling device and the article sending and receiving unit are arranged. The overhead conveying vehicle is configured to enable the support unit to be elevated to a first supporting position (P1) of the article sending and receiving unit for sending the article and to a second supporting position (P2) of the article sending and receiving unit for receiving the article. The first supporting position, the second supporting position, and a handling position (P3) are set on the article sending and receiving unit while being arranged in the arrangement direction. The overhead conveying vehicle equipped with a transfer operation unit (20) which operates the transfer of the support unit just above the first and the second support position in the arrangement direction.</p> |
