<p>PURPOSE: An avatar service system and a method thereof are provided to express actions of an avatar in a mobile environment. CONSTITUTION: An avatar service system comprises a user terminal (110), a server (120), and a network (130). The user terminal is a wired/wireless communication terminal which is used by a user and communicates with a server using a communication module which is included in the terminal. The server provides the user terminal with an avatar service through an avatar service, chatting service, social network service, and social network game according to a request of the user. An avatar service system includes a request receiving unit which receives a request for an action of an avatar, an image data selecting unit which selects image data from each layer which constitutes a body of an avatar in response to the request, and an avatar action processing unit which generates avatar action data based on the selected image data and provides the generated avatar action data for the user terminal.
