A drum washing machine and a method for controlling the same are provided to improve the efficiency and the commercial value of products by inputting a proper amount of a detergent and controlling the time of an amount of clothes by users. A method for controlling a drum washing machine includes the steps of: generating a sensing signal for the amount of clothes inputted inside of the drum washing machine so as to apply the sensing signal to a control unit on a sensing unit(S100); calculating the amount of the clothes with at least one of a percent unit and a weight unit corresponding to the capacity of the whole drum washing machine so as to apply a control signal to a displaying unit on the basis of the sensed signal on the control unit(S200); and displaying the amount of the calculated clothes with a bar graph(S300). The control unit outputs the signal having at least one of the weight unit and the percent unit to display the amount of the clothes on the displaying unit with the bar graph; and displaying the amount of the clothes with the bar graph on a unit block with at least one of the percent unit and the weight unit according to the control signal. |
