PURPOSE: An apparatus for testing a solar cell module and a method thereof are provided to check defect of the solar cell module. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for testing a solar cell module includes a solar cell unit (110), a temperature controller (130), a current supply unit (140), a performance measuring unit (150) and a defect checking unit (170). The solar cell unit holds more than one solar cell module in which a number of solar battery cells are electrically connected. The temperature controller controls temperature of the solar cell module. The current supply unit supplies a current to the solar cell module. The performance measuring unit measures an output of the solar cell module to test electrical connection of the solar cell module. The defect checking unit checks defect of the solar cell module, by comparing the current supplied from the current supply unit with the output measured in the performance measuring unit at the temperature controlled by the temperature controller.
