A drum type washing machine is provided to prevent damage or blocking of a pump caused by a coin or other foreign material by forming a foreign material preventive rib at a tub. A drum type washing machine comprises a tub(20), a drum(30), and a foreign material preventive rib(50). The water is stored in the tub. An opening part(26) is formed at the front of the tub. The drum is rotatably installed in the tub and formed with an opening part at the front part. The foreign material preventive rib is installed at the tub to prevent the foreign material from being infiltrated between the opening of the tub and the opening of the drum. A drainage hole(52) through which the water is passed is formed at the foreign material preventive rib. |
