The invention relates to a device for recovering heat in smoke exhaust ducts, having a modular configuration that can be coupled to the general duct of the chimney and structured in the form of a module (1) having an inner casing (11) and an outer casing (12) defining therebetween a peripheral enclosure (13) associated with the inlet (E) and outlet (S) ducts for the heating fluid. The inner casing (11) defines an empty space (10) extending continuously from the rest of the general duct of the chimney. The device also comprises tubular ducts (14) interconnecting diametrically opposed walls of the inner casing (11) and connected to the peripheral enclosure (13), forming a labyrinthine circuit. Ports are provided on the outer casing (12) for at least a temperature sensor (T), a safety valve (V) and a purge device (P). In addition, the device includes a hood (C) protecting the outer casing (12).
