PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the false detection of a transfer failure in a transfer operation for sequentially setting a plurality of switch elements to an on-state in accordance with transfer signals.SOLUTION: An LED print head includes: light emitting thyristors L1-L128 in which light emission/light non-emission is controlled by light emitting signals; a plurality of transfer thyristors S1-S128 each installed between a power source VDD and a corresponding light emitting thyristor out of the light emitting thyristors L1-L128 and sequentially set to an on-state by transfer signals so as to set the corresponding light emitting thyristor to a state enabling light emission; a transfer thyristor S129 which does not correspond to any of the light emitting thyristors L1-L128 is installed at a rear stage of the transfer thyristor S128 and connected to the power source VDD; and an input and output part 44 which includes an output buffer supplying the light emitting signals to the light emitting thyristors L1-L128. While an output from the input and output part 44 is made high in impedance, the transfer signals are generated exceeding the number of the light emitting thyristors so as to detect a transfer failure.
