PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly carry out light writing onto an image carrier by using a plurality of optical writing means displaced one from another in a sub-scanning direction.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 is configured in such a manner that in a main scanning direction of a photoreceptor drum 31 driven by being rotated around the main scanning direction, three LED arrays 33a to 33c, which have respective predetermined lengths and in a state where they are arranged while being displaced in a sub-scanning direction by predetermined amounts and their ends overlap one another by predetermined amounts, emit writing light onto the photoreceptor drum 31. The distances between at least the LED arrays 33a to 33c and the photoreceptor drum 31 are detected by distance sensors 42a and 42b. During the rotation of the photoreceptor drum 31 for a predetermined amount, the timing of emitting writing light onto the photoreceptor drum 31 by at least one of the LED arrays 33a to 33c is corrected by an LED array control section 39 based on the distances detected by the distance sensors 42a and 42b. |
