PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming system and techniques related thereto which facilitate utilization of a function on an external terminal side in operation relating to an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: The image forming system comprises an image forming apparatus and an external terminal 50 capable of communicating with the image forming apparatus. The external terminal 50 receives operation screen information being information on an operation screen GS1 from the image forming apparatus and displays on a touch panel 75 the operation screen on the basis of the operation screen information. The operation screen information includes type information on a utilization target function that is a function of the external terminal 50 and is a function usable as an extension function by an input operation relating to an input field within the operation screen GS1. The touch panel 75 receives operation input to the input field, using the utilization target function (address book function etc.) identified on the basis of the type information.
