PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of appropriately cooling an optical modulator and achieving a reduction in thickness.SOLUTION: The projector comprises: liquid crystal panels 251B, 251R, 251G; a cross dichroic prism 254 for taking-in and synthesizing modulated light of respective colors from light flux incident side end faces to form image light, and emitting the image light from a light flux emitting side end face; and a projection lens 3 for magnifying and projecting the image light. The cross dichroic prism 254 is arranged so that the light flux incident side end faces and the light flux emitting side end face are positioned along the thickness direction of the projector. The projector further includes: a cooling fan 4 arranged on the lateral side of the projection lens 3; and a duct part 10 surrounding the light flux incident side end faces of the cross dichroic prism 254 and allowing the air blown from the cooling fan to circulate from the lateral side of the liquid crystal panels 251B, 251R, 251G. |
