PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an SMR converter which can stop a system without applying any load thereto upon occurrence of abnormalities therein.SOLUTION: The SMR converter includes a control unit 70a generating first through third percentage modulation signals synchronized with voltage change in each phase voltage of a three-phase AC power supply generating three-phase AC power, a PWM signal generation unit 40a generating a PWM signal consisting of a pulse train generated at a timing and in a period dependent on the comparison result of the signal level of a carrier signal in the changing section, and the signal level of each of first through third percentage modulation signals, and a frequency conversion unit 20 having a plurality of switches turning on/off according to the PWM signal. The PWM signal generation unit 40a generates a positive side switch drive pulse and a negative side switch drive pulse for on driving the positive side and negative side bilateral switches connected with the same three-phase AC flow path in the same time zone depending on a short circuit pulse or a forced stop pulse. |
