The device (1) has joint partners (3, 5) on a die (9) arranged one above another by punch riveting with a rivet (7). A shaping contour (12) is formed on a die surface (10.1) on another die (10) below the joint partners. The rivet penetrates rectilinearly into the adding partners. The latter die comprises a pressure contour (14) at the die surface. The shaping contour is designed as recess (12.1) between an upper plane (12.4) formed by a die top face, and a lower plane (12.2). The pressure contour comprises rounded off or round cross section (14.2).
