PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method of a panel for performing a stable writing operation even without using a forced initialization operation, and whose contrast is improved, and a plasma display panel.SOLUTION: A driving method includes: a subfield for performing first maintenance drive for applying upward inclined waveform voltage which rises to first voltage to a scanning electrode after applying a maintenance pulse in a maintenance period in one field; and a subfield for performing second maintenance drive for applying upward inclined waveform voltage which rises to second voltage to a scanning electrode without applying the maintenance pulse, one field group is constituted of a plurality of temporary continuous fields, frequencies for applying forced initialization waveform to the respective scanning electrodes are set to one for one field group, and a writing operation is performed in a writing period of the subfield for performing the second maintenance drive only in the scanning electrode for applying the forced initialization waveform. |
