PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of improving the durability of an image carrier and reducing a running cost by suppressing the generation of ozone to suppress the occurrence of transfer memory.SOLUTION: There is provided an image forming apparatus which comprises: a first charging part for charging the surface of an image carrier to a predetermined potential; a transfer part 37a which is disposed so as to be in contact with the surface of the image carrier 2a through a transferred material 7 and transfers a toner image to the transferred material 7; a cleaning part 11a which is contacted with the surface of the image carrier 2a after the toner image is transferred to the transferred material 7 to clean the surface of the image carrier 2a; a second charging part 13a which is disposed on the downstream side in the rotating direction of the image carrier 2a from the cleaning part 11a and on the upstream side from the first charging part 10a and is contacted with the surface of the image carrier 2a to charge the surface of the image carrier 2a to a potential having the polarity same as that charged by the first charging part 10a. The second charging part 13a has a charging amount adjusting mechanism capable of changing the contact pressure or contact area with respect to the surface of the image carrier 2a to adjust a charge amount. |
