A beam expanding unit (20) elliptically expands beams of laser light emitted from laser light sources (1R, 1G, 1B). A beam irradiation position displacing unit (4) sequentially moves the elliptically expanded laser light in the direction of a short axis of the elliptical shape on a surface of an integrator (5a) by moving a mirror (41) in parallel by means of a drive unit (44). Reflection-type liquid crystal elements (14R, 14G, 14B) modulate the laser light. A projection lens (17) projects the laser light modulated by means of the reflection-type liquid crystal elements (14R, 14G, 14B). |
