The spray device (2) has a spraying chamber (14) filled with a medium (13) to be sprayed, where a pressure wave generation unit (23) is arranged in the spray chamber. The pressure wave generation unit is designed to apply a pressure pulse to the medium. A valve unit (18) is arranged at an end section (15) of the spray chamber to open the pressure wave generation unit for generating the pressure pulse, and releases a predetermined amount of medium from the spray chamber into the environment (19) of a spray box (1).
