PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique that can improve contrast of a display image and suitably display the image of a subject area.SOLUTION: A display device includes determination means and control means. The determination means determines that a determination object block is a block that satisfies a predetermined condition when a block in a subject area is not included in a predetermined number of blocks centering around the determination object block. The control means makes: light emission luminance of back light of a block in the subject area a first level; light emission luminance of back light of a block that satisfies a predetermined condition among blocks in a background area a second level that is lower than the first level; and light emission luminance of back light of a block that does not satisfy a predetermined condition among blocks in a background area a third level that is higher than the second level and less than the first level. |
