The high volt component (2,2') comprises sensor devices (7,7') that are arranged in the housing (6,6'), for recognizing a mechanical damage of the high volt component. The sensor devices are provided with sense elements (8,8',8'') that are attached to surfaces (10,10') of the housing, for covering the surfaces. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) system for operating high volt component; and (2) method for operating high volt component.
