The adjusting device comprises a sensor unit (10) to sense a parameter for determining a dead center position of a piston inside a cylinder (11). The dead center position is adjusted inside the cylinder. A calculation unit (12) is provided for comparing the sensed parameter with another predetermined parameter, which indirectly displays the dead center position of the piston. The sensor unit has a pressure sensor (13) to detect a pressure variation in the cylinder during cold test.
