<p>With respect to a remote control (10), when it is determined that a power conservation flag (122) is on, that is, when it is determined that the remote control (10) is operating in a power conservation mode, a monochrome image stored in a reduced-amount image storage unit (110) is set as the image information to be read by a drawing unit (107). The amount of information for this monochrome image is one-eighth the amount of information for a color image stored in a normal image storage unit (109). Accordingly, when the remote control (10) is operated in a power conservation mode, the drawing unit (107) is able to read the monochrome image stored in the reduced-amount image storage unit (110) while consuming less power than when reading the color image stored in the normal image storage unit (109).
