PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stopping the operation of a fuel cell system, which is conducive to restraining degradation of the fuel cell.SOLUTION: The method includes the steps of: stopping the supply of fuel gas when a halt instruction of a fuel cell system S is detected, actuating a fuel exhaust gas recycling device 23 to have fuel exhaust gas recycled to the anode side of a fuel cell 10 and to have oxidizer exhaust gas discharge passages 52a to 52d sealed by an oxidizer exhaust gas discharge passage sealing device 45, and getting oxidizer exhaust gas recycling passages 53a and 53b placed into an open state by an oxidizer exhaust gas recycling passage control device 47, whereby oxidizer exhaust gas is recycled to the cathode side of the fuel cell 10, letting the fuel cell 10 generate electricity; and stopping the recycling of fuel exhaust gas by the fuel exhaust gas recycling device 23, having the oxidizer exhaust gas recycling passages 53a and 53b placed into a closed state by the oxidizer exhaust gas recycling passage control device 47 to stop recycling of oxidizer exhaust gas, stopping electricity generation by the fuel cell 10, and having oxidizer gas supply passages 51a to 51d sealed by an oxidizer gas supply passage sealing device 44. |
