PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify a position on a medium transportation path at which a motor driving current at the time of medium transportation is abnormal.SOLUTION: The medium transportation state detecting device includes: a stepping motor 100 which changes rotational speed in accordance with a pulse width of a pulse signal; a motor control information storage part 2 which stores a setting current value for driving with a predetermined pulse width; a step counter part 6 which counts the number of pulses between sensors 106, 107 for detecting the top and rear ends of the medium; a motor driver 3 which drives a motor at a predetermined rotational speed; a current detection part 4; a distance calculation information storage part 7 which stores a predetermined distance on the transportation path in which the medium is transported; a current comparison part 5 which compares a set current value with a detection current value and determines whether or not both values are included within a predetermined range; and a control part 1, when the current comparison part 5 determines that both values are not included within the predetermined range, determines it as an error of the device to stop the stepping motor 100 and specifies a transportation position of the medium on the basis of a count value and a predetermined distance. |
