The touch-sensitive operating unit has an input screen with a sensor (15), which has two opposing, electrically conductive layers (10,11) that are electrically separated from each other in the ground state. The layers are conductively connected with each other by a contact of the former layer facing the contact by an operator at a contact position with the pressure. The contact is detected by two different measurement processes formed by a resistive contact measurement process and a capacitive contact measurement process respectively. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a medical device, particularly a medical imaging device with a control unit for executing a safety-relevant action; and (2) a method for operating a medical device with an operating unit.
