PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact developing device capable of discharging accumulated toner to the outside of a developer container, and preventing the occurrence of toner fall during image formation.SOLUTION: A developing device is configured such that a developer accumulation part (indicated elliptically by a dotted line in a figure) is formed in the vicinity of the downstream side of the edge of an opening of a developing case arranged below a developing roller 34. By rotating the developing roller 34 in a direction reverse to that during a developing operation, a toner accumulated in the vicinity of the edge of the opening of the developing case (indicated elliptically by a broken line in a figure) is extruded by a developer accumulated on the developer accumulation part to be discharged to the outside of the case. |
