An underwater camera housing(l) capable of receiving and holding a camera (2) having an electronic viewfinder (4) and a proximity sensor (3) carries prevention means to optionally allow or substantially prevent the operation of the proximity sensor by preventing electromagnetic radiation emitted by the proximity sensor from being reflected back to the proximity sensor and a control mechanism (9) operable to move the prevention means. In one embodiment, the prevention means comprises a material (6) which is substantially non-reflective to electromagnetic waves emitted for receipt by the proximity sensor (3). In a second embodiment, the prevention means comprises a substantially reflective device (21) able to reflect sufficient electromagnetic waves emitted for receipt by the proximity sensor (3) away from the proximity sensor (3) so as to substantially prevent operation of the proximity sensor (3). |
