PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a blood vessel emphasis observation in which a brightness shortage and a tone change are decreased without causing decrease of a frame rate and complication of an image processing.SOLUTION: In a normal observation mode, white light is irradiated to an observation region as illumination light to take an image. Spectral images of B, G, and R are obtained from an imaging signal to generate a display image. In a blood vessel emphasis observation mode, the illumination light that adds auxiliary light for blood vessel emphasis to white light is irradiated to the observation region to take an image. The spectral images of B, G, and R are obtained from the imaging signal, each spectral image is assumed to be an original image, and a multiresolution conversion processing is performed. A conversion image where a component of a spatial frequency band corresponding to a blood vessel is shown is obtained by the multiresolution conversion processing, and the conversion image is added to the original image, and a display image for blood vessel emphasis is generated. |
