PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can suppress transfer rate decrease in a secondary transfer process without increasing size and a cost of the entire apparatus even when a resistance value of an apparatus side or a resistance value of a recording medium is changed due to environment, when speed of the apparatus is increased.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises: a first power source section 61 that applies bias of the same polarity as that of toner to an intermediate transfer body 8 via a secondary transfer countering member 12B; and a second power source section 62 that applies bias of reverse polarity of that of the toner to a secondary transfer member 19. Then, when a secondary transfer process is carried out, the bias of the same polarity as that of the toner is applied to the intermediate transfer body 8 by the first power source section 61 so that current becomes constant, and bias of the reverse polarity as that of the toner is applied to the secondary transfer member 19 by the secondary power source section 62 so that voltage becomes constant. |
