PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device etc. capable of more simply masking an intended section in a read image obtained by reading an image of a document.SOLUTION: An image reading device 10 comprises: a mark detection unit 120 for detecting a mark which can be an object position of mask formation from original image data inputted from a scanner 16; an additional data creation unit 130 which sets to the original image data a conversion object area in which a mask should be formed, on the basis of the mark detected by the mark detection unit 120 and an instruction received by a UI device 15 and creates additional data including mask image data corresponding to the set conversion object area and associated data set in association with a mask image; and an electronic document synthesis unit 140 which synthesizes the additional data created by the additional data creation unit 130 and the original image data being the original of the additional data to create an electronic document.
