PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect failure of a starter drive circuit to properly take measures appropriate to the failure.SOLUTION: An engine control device drives one of a plunger and a motor, which are included in a starter mechanism of an engine, with following the other after a predetermined delay time through the use of a relay switch. The engine control device is configured so that, at a start of the engine, a failure determining part determines whether the relay switch is abnormal on the basis of time when the relay switch is actually delayed. |
