PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device and a rhythm output method capable of outputting various rhythms intended by a user.SOLUTION: An electronic device 100 includes: an operation part 115 (detection part) for determining presence/absence of contact on a side face of the present device and detecting a contact position which is a position at which the presence of the contact is determined; a control part 111 for calculating output timing of a beat configuring a rhythm on the basis of arrangement of the contact position on the side face; and an output part 110 for outputting the beat at the output timing.
