The absorption of CO2 from a gas mixture by bringing the gas mixture in contact with an absorption medium, which contains water and 5 to 50 wt% of amino acid salts of the formula R1R2CHNHCH2COOK, wherein R1 and R2 are n-alkyl groups and the groups R1 and R2 together have 2 to 4 carbon atoms, enables a high weight-based CO2 absorption capacity in the cyclic operation of absorption and desorption.
