<p>A musical instrument 10 comprising at least one playing surface (12) attached between a supporting base member (14) and a seat member (16). The playing surface may be played by a users hand or foot, or by a foot-operated percussion mallet 20. The at least one playing surface includes at least one electronic percussion pad such as an electronic drum pad or electronic cymbal pad, and may be attached to the playing surface via an aperture located therein. The playing surface and base member are capable of supporting the weight of a user sitting on the seat member. Preferably, the instrument includes two or more playing surfaces and two or more electronic percussion pads 18a, 18b, of different sizes. An electronic control module (22) may be located in the musical instrument, to receive and process signals from the at least one electronic percussion pad, and to output signals to an external amplification and speaker system. An electrical power source may be connected to the musical instrument, to operate the electronic percussion pad(s).</p> |
